Hong Kong is an international metropolitan city, attracting talent from around the world to stay here to develop their careers and establish their families. In view of this, the HKSAR Government introduced the "Quality Migrant Admission Scheme" in 2006. This scheme allows highly skilled or talented persons the right to enter and settle in Hong Kong.
The objectives of the scheme are to enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness in the global market, as well as provide Hong Kong people with more opportunities to work with individuals from around the world. Successful applicants of this scheme are not required to secure an offer of local employment before their entry to Hong Kong for settlement. (http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/QMAS.htm)
The territory's well-established education system helps prepare Hong Kong's younger generation for success not only in Hong Kong but internationally. There are eight Government-funded universities in Hong Kong, producing thousands of graduates every year. Hong Kong people of all generations have grown up with an international perspective and are experienced in working with citizens from all around the world. Additionally, they also have certain qualities shared by many Chinese, in being industrious, assiduous and determined. With these assets, the people of Hong Kong have been able to overcome many obstacles in their past and will continue to achieve even greater success in the future.
