The 17th Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Contest – Final and Prize Ceremony

The Better Hong Kong Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of Commissioner of the PRC’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR and the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government, has organized the Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Contest since 2007. The contest aimed to raise students’ interest in international affairs and knowledge of the nation’s foreign policy. “Love Diplomacy, Love the World” was the theme of the 17th Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Competition. Approximately 78,000 students from 289 primary and secondary schools enrolled in this year’s contest which set the highest record since the launch of the contest.

On May 17, five shortlisted teams entered into the Final and competed for the championship under Secondary School Category. Contestants completed for their knowledge of foreign diplomatic affairs of the PRC, Hong Kong-related foreign affairs, national and international affairs, international relationships and diplomatic etiquette. After rounds of fierce competition, the championship went to Caritas Tuen Mun Marden Foundation Secondary School. This year, the organizers were honoured to have invited the Chief Executive John Lee as the Guest of Honour of the Final and to address us at the prize presentation ceremony. The Foundation’s Trustee David Chiu, Council Members Thomas Woo, Samson Chan, Y K Chan, Allen Shi and Clara Chan, and Executive Director Ms. Karen Tang attended the Final on behalf of the Foundation. The Foundation’s Corporate Sponsor Roy Chung was invited to be one of the judges of the Final.

Around 600 audience members, comprising students and teachers from primary and secondary schools as well as invited guests, were amazed by the excellent performances of the finalists. A television program about the contest was produced and broadcast on RTHK31 channel on 22 June 2025.
