2023 Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation and Development Forum

On 30 November 2023, the 2023 Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation and Development Forum was successfully held in Shanghai. Jointly organized by the Better Hong Kong Foundation, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), the theme of this year’s forum was “China’s Green Finance Standard: Roles and Functions of Shanghai and Hong Kong”. The forum provided a platform for entrepreneurs, government officials, experts and scholars from Shanghai and Hong Kong to have an in-depth discussion on strategic coordination and development paths in green finance, especially the role of Shanghai and Hong Kong in supporting the country’s green development. The Forum was supported by Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai of the HKSAR Government.

The Foundation’s Executive Committee Chairman Mr. Ronnie Chan, Director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan & Overseas Chinese of Shanghai CPPCC Mr. Yao Hai together with Vice President of the SASS Prof. Zhu Guohong officiated at the opening ceremony. The Foundation has the honour of inviting the Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government Mr. Paul Chan to deliver a keynote speech online. The Foundation’s Council Member Dr. Zhong Xiaofeng also spoke at the Forum while Executive Director Ms. Karen Tang chaired one of the sessions. As invited by the Foundation, Ms. Chaoni Huang, Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Green Finance Association and Mr. Nick Pan, Head of Business Origination in CMB of Hang Seng Bank (China) shared their insights at the Forum. More than a hundred participants including heads of relevant government departments, experts and scholars, business representatives and media from Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing attended the Forum.
