The Better Hong Kong Foundation’s Executive Director, Ms. Karen Tang was invited by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences as a speaker and moderator at a seminar on “The Interactive Relationship between Shanghai and Hong Kong in the Changing Economy”. Ms. Tang gave a speech on the impact of CEPA on Hong Kong and its economic relationship with the Mainland. In her speech, Ms. Tang described the economic situation after the introduction of CEPA, which reflected how CEPA benefited not only Hong Kong but also the Mainland. Such mutually beneficial relationships were anticipated to be further deepened after China’s entry into the WTO in 2007; and more collaborative platforms should be further developed between Hong Kong and Shanghai.
