The Foundation, together with the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) and Shanghai Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), organized the forum on “40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-Up: Shanghai and Hong Kong to Launch a New Chapter Together” on 13 November 2018 in Shanghai. It was the thirteenth annual forum that was jointly organized by the three organizations. The forum was supported by Shanghai International Economic Exchange Foundation, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai of the HKSAR Government and Shanghai Office of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

More than a hundred experts, scholars, government officials and entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and the Mainland attended the forum. The Chairman of the Shanghai CPPCC Mr. Dong Yunhu, President of the SASS Dr. Zhang Daogen together with the Foundation’s Executive Committee Chairman Mr. Ronnie Chan officiated at the opening ceremony. Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of CPPCC and former Chief Executive of HKSAR gave a keynote speech sharing his early involvement in the opening-up of the country as well as his aspiration about the future.
