Hengqin New Area is located on Hengqin Island in the south of Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, connected to Macao by a bridge. In August 2009, the State Council approved the Overall Development Plan of Hengqin, which clarifies the development positioning of Hengqin, i.e. a demonstration area exploring the new mode of cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao under the policy of “One Country, Two Systems”. On 17 September 2013, the Foundation was pleased to have invited Mr. Niu Jing, Director of Administrative Committee of Hengqin New Area to share with the Foundation’s members and guests the development plan and prospects of Hengqin at the Foundation’s seminar where Mr. Liu Jiangcheng, Deputy Director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Bureau of Zhuhai also attended.
