The country is one of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases and at the same time is highly vulnerable to and affected by the negative consequences of climate change. China has therefore emerged as a significant player in global sustainability efforts, particularly in sectors like electric vehicles, batteries, and renewable energy. These efforts align with China’s domestic priorities for sustainable development and environmental protection while also contributing to global climate mitigation efforts and SDGs. As such, the country demonstrates its commitment to advancing renewable energy cooperation, and the country’s business sector has played a major part in accelerating technologies and operational knowledge. To overcome climate challenges and accelerate the green revolution globally, cooperation between China and the world is crucial. This session will therefore hear experts from China on where China’s “Green Revolution” is heading, which milestones and efforts have contributed significantly to the success to date, and how multilateral cooperation between China and Europe can be set up in a pioneering way.
